1) Posture and attitude can take most hands, although you really do need the cards to back it up if someone challenges.
2) Often you cannot really read why someone is playing the way they are. It is easy to take it personally when they are kicking your backside, only to find out they are in a hurry and betting heavy to get to a golf game or meeting. You’re just frustrated because you aren’t drawing the right cards to fight back.
3) “One better” is all it takes to take it all.
4) Persistency often wins out on the turn, and the especially the river, if you have the stomach and chips to support it.
5) “All in” before the flop usually is a fool’s be and a bluff.
6) A few hands and watching a person’s method of operation pays off big time so you can know if they are all bluster or if they only bet heavy when they have something to bet upon.
7) Luck usually follows luck. If you are on a winning streak, it is rare that it stops suddenly.
Good sportsmanship is sooooo important to the overall quality of the interaction and the game. Take the time to denote “gg” (good game) no matter how sour and angry you are that you just got beat. Too often we lose the fun and respectful nature of sports in the edge to be competitive and win.
9) You MUST bet on the cards that you are given, for when you are given a good hand, it is contingent to put your heart and chips down heavy as Lady Luck is shining on you.
10) p.s. to that one is, if everyone around you is checking, a big bet will usually blow them out of the water. It is better to get a few chips along and then end with a big bet on the river, if you are afraid of spooking the others.
Read into this as it relates to life and where and how you make decisions every day. Live a respectful, encouraging life and, most importantly, enjoy the game!
To Your Success!
