Hope keeps people moving forward which is a natural human tendency. Even street people who have lost all obvious hope eventually find a shopping cart and begin walking or begging or taking some action for survival. It is instinct to try to survive. It is eventual acceptance of our lot in life that enables us to take a look around to see what we can do differently that we have not tried before. Sometimes people lose hope for a moment or two, day or two, week or two or year or two. Coming to terms with the reality of the situation helps us to get to the point where acceptance is the next natural step. Sometimes we have to wallow around a bit before we get to that point where we have asked all the questions we can think of, worked every corner of the situation for a different outcome, and eventually come to inevitable conclusions realizing that pros and cons exist for everything. There isn’t anything that is 100% positive or 100% negative as positive can come from even the worst of situations if you are honest with yourself about it. Even death brings new realizations and understandings that we would not have had if it had not happened. Looking for the good, finding the good, insisting on continuing to work for the good no matter how dark the days become, brings eventual light and hope to our lives.
