Relay for Life 2007 – “Relaying for Life Until there is a Cure!”

“I’m glad I’m not normal…. Normal is broke and miserable…. Crazy is a lot more fun!” (After Spring Hill’s Relay for Life team met her challenge in 2007 and exceeded their goal of raising $166,000 for the American Cancer Society, she offered to shave her head for reaching a goal of $200,000 but to the relief of her family and friends the team fell a bit shy. When asked why she was willing to make such challenges she said, “Some people don’t have a choice as to whether they lose their hair or not. If mine can raise another $30,000+ and help find a Cure, it’s worth it. Extraordinary goals sometimes require extraordinary measures. I’m willing to do whatever I can do to help find a Cure for cancer. Offering to color my hair purple or even shave it to motivate and encourage others is the least I can do. I work for a Cure in honor of my Mother whom we lost to lung cancer in 2004. She was quite the proper lady so I’m not sure if she would approve of the lengths I am willing to go to for a Cure. Purple hair? LOL – probably not. I’m willing to do whatever I can within my power to keep others from having to go through what we went through in losing her. My ultimate goal is to see a definitive Cure for cancer in my lifetime.” – Tracy)
