The difference between the pure interest of the butterfly flapping its wings which causes such an effect and us flapping ours is that the butterfly has a single-minded purpose of pollinating the flowers. Although we sometimes start out in a focused direction and for the best of causes, too often we humans get distracted by things that do not really matter in the larger scheme of things. We begin to think in terms of who gets credit, who receives the money, who gains the power or recognition, where it originated from, who ‘owns’ things, etc., instead of letting the power of positive change just happen. It is the positive OUTCOME and results that matter, although denoting how you accomplished it for future replication does. The butterfly simply goes about the pollination process, giving and getting, giving and getting equally, without possibly ever even seeing the results of its work. You don’t see butterflies coming back a month or two or later in spring to say “I pollinated that one!” “No, you didn’t, I did”. They have moved on to their butterfly gardens and the next opportunity to create growth and beauty. The flowering beauty of Spring is the tribute to their work during the cold dark days of Fall and Winter. They live calmly within the natural order of nature without worry, without owning anything except the wings they use to transport themselves to their next opportunity to give, receive what they need and create life If we could only learn to be as butterflies, exacting the good that we can do as we go and not worrying so about who did what to create the beautiful state that we all hope to create, we would all be better off.
