The tribute to Michael Jackson was beautifully fitting of a life well-lived and a impact that will last forever on our world. To be remembered and revered, honored and acknowledged, all important in recognizing a life lived and an untimely death. Every person who lives, breathes and dies, should be recognized in such a way as we all touch lives, influence others, love and are loved, but few are lucky enough to gain a world-wide stage for our lives to be played out and acknowledged like this in the end. Typical funerals fit within 1/2 hour to and hour, a trip to the cemetery and the end. A head stone placedĀ with your birth and your death date on it that represents your life, some flowers put there from time to time if you’re lucky, as you live on in the hearts and minds of others for as long as they then live. Farrah Fawcett lived a great life and fought a valiant death, but she was overshadowed by a person who took drugs prescribed that should have never even been in his possession. Not to take away from the great person that Michael Jackson was, but shouldn’t we better recognize someone who tried so hard to leave a legacy of fighting cancer and a valiant struggle, as much as someone tainted with public scandal, who died from an accidental cardiac arrest created by a drug he should never have had in the first place? It says a lot about our society if you pause and think about it.
And what legacy would you leave if you were to die today? It causes one to pause for a minute and think. Would it be of significant fanfare or would it be a quiet and quick burial? You have the time to make the difference. It’s not the number on the front or the number on the back of your headstone, but the dash in middle that really represents your life. You can make it significant and worthwhile and know that you are worthy of all the fanfare and all the recognition that this world has to offer. No one is ever better than or worse than another – we are simply at the mercy of our belief system of what we believe that we deserve. You deserve more. You can do more. Start doing it today….
