Have you ever just stepped back and wondered at the state of the world today? Do you wonder about the Gulf oil spill and why one of the most advanced nations in the world has been unable to stop the leak OR clean up the mess that has been made. When you hear of the conspiracy theories of why this is the case, it is one of those things that makes one go “hmmmm…”. What you don’t hear enough of is holding our politicians accountable for their lack of action by letter writing and phone calls. We deserve, and should demand, answers. Not just that they are now (finally) rounding up oil skimmers, but why were they originally turned down? Why are we on day #70 and the oil continues to pour into our ocean? It truly does make you wonder. A 20 billion dollar fund? That’s five quarters of their previous level of profits without them even trying. So, within roughly 15 months, they will be back to full level or profit while FL and its residents and neighboring counties suffer from this devastation of our beaches and wildlife, with an untold potential effect from acid rain and other detrimental side effects, for decades and possibly centuries to come! This is when my blood really starts to boil at the lack of forethought and planning that got us into this mess! Not only that, but the complete disregard that they have for considering hurricanes during hurricane season. HELLOOOOOOOOO???????????? Anyone in there? And judges that lift moratoriums on drilling for oil because they have investments in the oil industry? Insult to injury! Can you say “stop the madness?” Then do so. Write your Congress people, the president, the morons at BP, and keep the heat on them until they step up and make this right. This is similar to a hurricane coming through, leaving utter devastation and them taking 70 days to show up to clear it up and tend to the mess that was left in its wake! And judiciary collusion an additional the affront to what has been done, and not done.
It is time to take action and write our President and tell him how you feel about the current state of affairs. Raise some hell and demand movement, accountability and evident action on the situation in the Gulf. After all, if we do not rise up as a people now, it means that anything can be done or neglected to be done and we will sit idly by and complain and sputter, but not DO anything. It’s time… what action can you take this very moment??
