Now that you have written your 103 goals (and if you have not, stop and do so before continuing), go through them and identify your top 10 must achieve goals during your lifetime. It’s wise to select a few from each area of living – career, family, spiritual, health, financial. This is going to be your working list over the next year or so and where you are going to focus your time. Once you have your top 10, write them in PRESENT TENSE (I have, I am, etc.), and from a positive perspective (without ‘no’, ‘not’, ‘never’, etc.), and make them S (specific), M (measurable), A (actionable), R (realistic), T (trackable), SMART goals. As an example, “I am smoke free by 1/1/2010″ instead of “I will not smoke” or write ”I weigh 120 pounds.” rather than “I will lose (is future tense and leaves it ‘out there’ to be accomplished later) 20 pounds.” These pointers are CRITICAL in your effort to gain subconscious assistance in breaking barriers previously encountered in many of your effort. Read this paragraph over very, very closely as this may help your thinking process more than you realize. Sometime you may wonder why you are not achieving the success in a particular area of your life and some of these could be the key to answering that question. Think of how you think about it and what you are telling yourself about accomplishing that particular goal. Spend some time reviewing your top 10 SMART goals.
