Where else in the world, can broken systems and processes remain broken and still perpetuate the same or similar unsatisfactory results without hope of change or improvement and even hope to continue? If a business ran as our government runs, as our schools are funded and agencies responsible for being part of the solution simply maintain status quo, that business would be out of business YEARS ago! I look at our educational process that is broken and everyone knows it. Yet it remains broken with teachers and administrators struggling with bare budgets and too many parents who put all of the responsibility for not only educating their child, but also raising them, giving them morals, ethics, manners, respect and all of the many things parents were/are supposed to do. I look at a governmental process that is also not working, yet it grows daily and remains virtually unchanged. I know many of the politicians that lead us and they are GOOD people, capable, with good hearts, the right intent, so it is NOT the politicians that are at fault but the system of politics that is broken. When we, as the American people, let the tail wag the dog, do not stand up for the principles that this country was founded upon, do not demand that our political system work WITHOUT corruption, without favoritism, without politics as usual, it is WE that are at fault. When we do not demand in funding that they first educate our children before expanding social programs, we are doomed to fail. When we allow our kids to continue to absorb their minds in useless video games and not challenge their little minds to expand with the global economy, WE are at fault. And until we all stop pointing our fingers at another and rise up and say “I will be the one to make the difference”, WE are, and will remain, the unsolvable, continuing and growing, problem. Lethargic and apathetic to and silently dissatisfied with the status quo will never bring about the step change needed to keep our country from following the same path as did the greatness of Egypt, Rome and Greece! History DOES repeat itself… pay attention and step up and be the change that we all need to be.
