One thing that vacationing is good for is a time for reflection – centering yourself from where you were, to where you are.  I often hear clients tell me they don’t have time for a vacation. In reality, they don’t have time not to take a break from the day to day to let their creative juices flow again. If you took pressure and pressed it on your head constantly, would you not want relief from the pressure eventually? Of course you would! This is what happens within your mental being constantly. You go and go and go and go and go until you can’t go anymore, then you collapse rather than to take incremental breaks along the way.

There are few people who work like I work, but we all need some relief from internal and external pressures. Take it from someone who has learned from their past mistakes, ulcers, health issues/concerns, etc…. Take a break! Just decide about something that is on your bucket list of things you want to do, pull out the calendar, check online or make the calls necessary to set it up, and go for it. Ask for the time off, or make your schedule around those dates and ‘just do it’. If you wait for the time or space to take the time off you never will. And you will live the best years of your life under stress and self-imposed pressure. If you can’t get the time off of work, set up a weekend get away and just get away. Long weekends are perfect for that. It doesn’t have to be an expensive outing. Even just a night away somewhere different, go camping, find an inexpensive hotel on Hotwire.com, drive to see a friend or family, just GO! Your health and mental well being will be aided by the reflective time you provide for yourself. You will come back with more ideas, more vitality, more creativity and a much better attitude to approach the natural stressors of life. And you will have wonderful memories of time spent with those you love and care about.

To your rest and relaxation! (let me hear about it)
