Have you ever just felt something to deeply that it brought intense sting of tears to your eyes? If so, have you ever considered why that sting accompanies the tears? There are many things that I often wonder about why they are so. I look forward to my conversation with God some day where I can ask all the questions that are in my heart and head as to why things are as they are. He thought of everything! Even to eyelashes and nose hairs to keep the dust from intruding into our eyes and our breathing processes. For every part of us there is a rhyme and reason beyond that which even we can comprehend in most instances. It is a tribute to His greatness and causes me to often ponder how extremely MUCH He loves us. As I sometimes feel disappointed in people and situations, I imagine if I am disappointed or saddened, how much greater is either God’s disappointment and sadness than my own or how much greater is He than me to see beyond that moment to the potential that lies within each of us? Beyond the wrong choice, the wrong decision, a poor attitude or behavior? Then why the sting? Is it to bring it to our attention of the intensity of our love and of our emotion to our full attention? Is it to remind us of how deeply we love? Deep tears as opposed to shallow tears? Is it just another way to make us think of Him and the greatness of His thoughts in creating us in His Image, considering every detail of our comfort and the protection of our bodies, even from ourselves? Did His eyes sting when Christ died on the cross? Do His eyes sting with intensity and pride each time He looks at us with unconditional and eternal love and feels the beat of our heart under His hand? I think it is that and even more – primarily to give us a special reminder of the gift of such incredible love and in case we are likely to no notice, He gave us ‘the sting’….
